Privacy Policy

Effective: 01 June 2019

Welcome to Wyld!

Wyld is a story spreading challenge. Share photos and videos that disappear when people stop forwarding them to others. Get creative and share stories worth spreading; the community may either Push/forward  stories to others, or Drop/discard them. How will your stories spread? (the Service).

This Privacy Policy (the Privacy Policy) is intended to inform you that Wildfire FZ-LLC (We, our, or us) may collect information from users of our mobile application, Wyld (the Application) and how we collect, use, share and protect such information. By using the Application, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time (details in clause 9 below). Your continued use of Wyld after changes are posted constitutes your agreement to the changes. If you do not agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy, please discontinue your use of the Application.

By using our Service you understand and agree that we are providing a platform for you to submit content, including photos, videos, text and other materials (the Story), to the Service and to share Stories publicly. This means that other Users may search for, see, use, or share any of your Stories that you make publicly available through the Service, consistent with the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use.

  • Our Service is a platform for content propagation, thus by submitting or sharing a Story on Wyld you understand and agree that the Story may be distributed publicly as Users re-share (the Push) it to others.

  • Our Privacy Policy applies to all visitors, users, and others who access the Service (Users).

When you use this Service, you’ll share some information with us. So we want to be upfront about the information we collect, how we use it, whom we share it with, and the choices we give you to control, access, and update your information.

We collect the following types of information.

Information you give us directly:
When you interact with our Service, we collect the information that you choose to share with us. For example, our Service requires you to set up a basic Wyld account, so we need to collect a few important details about you, such as; (i) your username, password, phone number, and e-mail address when you register for a Wyld account; (ii) profile information that you provide for your user profile (e.g., first and last name, picture). This information allows us to help you or others be found on Wyld; (iii) Stories (i.e, photos, videos, text, and other materials) that you submit to the Service; (iv) communications between you and Wyld. For example, we may send you Service-related emails (such as, account verification, changes/updates to features of the Service, technical and security notices). Please note that you may not opt out of receiving Service-related e-mails; (v) device phonebook: because Wyld is also about communicating sharing content with friends, we may—with your consent—collect information from your device’s phonebook[1]; (vi) camera and photos/videos: our Service require us to collect images and other information from your device’s camera and photos/videos. For example, you won’t be able to capture or upload photos/videos from your camera roll unless we can access your camera or photos/videos; (vii) location information: When you use our Service we may collect information about your location.

Information we get from third-parties:

We use third-party analytics tools to better understand our Service’s traffic, usage, and trends among Users. Such analytics tools collect information sent by your device or our Service and combine it with similar information from other services and companies. We collect and use this analytics information in order to analyze and track data to further improve the Service and to better understand your online activity. Any analytics information collected and used is combined with analytics information from other Users, so that it cannot be reasonably used to identify any individual User in particular.

We may also collect information that other Users provide about you when they use our Service. For example, if another User allows us to collect information from their device phonebook—and you’re one of that User’s contacts—we may combine the information we collect from that User.

Cookies and similar technologies:

  • Like most online services and mobile applications, we may use Cookies and other technologies, such as web beacons, web storage, and unique advertising identifiers, to collect information about your activity, browser, and device.

  • A browser cookie is a small piece of data that is stored on your device to help websites and mobile apps remember things about you. Other technologies, including web storage and identifiers associated with your device, may be used for similar purposes. In this Privacy Policy, we say Cookies (the Cookies) to discuss all of these technologies.

  • We may also use these Cookies to collect information when you interact with our Service we offer through one of our partners, such as advertising and commerce features. Most web browsers are set to accept Cookies by default. If you prefer, you can usually remove or reject browser Cookies through the settings on your browser or device. Keep in mind, though, that removing or rejecting Cookies could affect the availability and functionality of our Service.

  • How we use Cookies: Like most providers of online services, Wyld uses Cookies for a number of reasons, like protecting your Wyld data and account, helping us see which features are most popular, counting visitors to a page, improving our Users’ experience, keeping our Service secure, and just generally providing you with a better, more intuitive, and satisfying experience. The Cookies we use generally fall into one of the following categories: (i) preferences: we use these Cookies to remember your settings and preferences. (e.g.: languages…); (ii) security: we use these Cookies to help identify and prevent security risks. (e.g.: to store your session information to prevent others from changing your password without your username and password); (iii) performance: we use these cookies to collect information about how you interact with our Service and to help us improve them. (e.g.: to determine if you have interacted with a certain page); (iv) analytics: we use these cookies to help us improve our services. (e.g.: to learn more about which features are the most popular with our users and which ones might need some tweaks); (v) advertising: we use these cookies to deliver advertisements, to make them more relevant and meaningful to consumers, and to track the efficiency of our advertising campaigns, both on our services and on other websites or mobile apps.

  • Log file information:

    • Log file information is automatically reported by your browser each time you make a request to access a web page or app. It can also be provided when the content of the webpage or app is downloaded to your browser or device.

    • When you use our Service, our servers automatically record certain log file information, including (i) details about how you’ve used our Service; (ii) device information, such as your web browser type and language; (iii) access times; (iv) pages viewed; (v) IP address; (vi) identifiers associated with Cookies that may uniquely identify your device or browser. The information allows for more accurate reporting and improvement of the Service.

Device identifiers:

  • When you use a mobile device like a tablet or phone to access our Service, we may access, collect, monitor, store on your device, and/or remotely store one or more "device identifiers." Device identifiers are small data files or similar data structures stored on or associated with your mobile device, and uniquely identify your mobile device. A device identifier may be data stored in connection with the device hardware, data stored in connection with the device's operating system or other software, or data sent to the device by Wyld.

  • A device identifier may deliver information to us or to a third party partner about how you browse and use the Service and may help us or others provide reports or personalized content and ads. Some features of the Service may not function properly if use or availability of device identifiers is impaired or disabled.

  • Metadata is technical data that is associated with a Story. In other words, Metadata may describe how, when and by whom a Story was collected and how that content is formatted.

  • Users can add or may have Metadata added to their Stories. This includes a hashtag (used to mark keywords), geotag (used to mark your location), captions or other data. This way your Story is more searchable by others and more interactive. If you geotag your Story then, your latitude and longitude will be stored with it and become searchable (for example through a location or map feature) by other Users.

In addition to some of the specific uses of information this Privacy Policy covers, we may use information that we receive in order to: (i) develop, operate, improve, deliver, maintain, and protect our products and services; (ii) send you communications, including by email. For example, we may use email to respond to support inquiries or to share information about our products, services, and promotional offers that we think may interest you; (iii) monitor and analyze trends and usage; (iv) personalize the Service by, among other things, suggesting friends or profile information, or customizing the content we show you, including ads; (v) contextualize your experience by, among other things, geo-tagging your content using your precise location data (if, of course, you’ve consented to us collecting that data) and applying other labels based on the content; (vi) provide and improve ad targeting and measurement, including through the use of your precise location data (again, if you’ve consented to us collecting that data), both on and off our Services; (vii) enhance the safety and security of our products and Service; (viii) verify your identity and prevent fraud or other unauthorized or illegal activity; (ix) use information we’ve collected from Cookies and other technology to enhance the Service and your experience with them; (x) enforce our Terms of Use and other usage policies.

We will not rent or sell your information to third parties outside Wildfire FZ-LLC without your consent, except as noted in this Policy.

Parties with whom we may share your information:

  • With other Users. We may share the following information with other Users: (i) information about you, such as your username and name; (ii) information about how you have interacted with the Service, such as the names of Users you are friends with, and other information that will help Users understand your connections with others using the Service; (iii) any additional information you have consented for us to share; (iv) content you post or send will be shared with other Users.

  • With all Users, our business partners, and the general public: We may share the following information with all Users as well as with our business partners and the general public: (i) public information like your name, username and profile pictures; (ii) any content that you submit to your Story or any other crowd-sourced service. If a Story or any other crowd-sourced service is streamed on the web or broadcast in some other media, it may be viewed by the public at large or rebroadcast by our business partners.

  • With our corporate entities including any holding company, Group Company and subsidiary (the Group Company): We may share information with entities within the Wildfire FZ-LLC family companies.

  • With third parties: We may share your information with the following third parties: (i) with service providers, sellers, and partners. We may share information about you with service providers who perform services on our behalf, sellers that provide goods through our services, and business partners that provide services and functionality. For more information about data collected by third parties on our services, see below; (ii) with third parties for legal reasons. We may share information about you if we reasonably believe that disclosing the information is needed to: (a) comply with any valid legal process, governmental request, or applicable law, rule, or regulation; (b) investigate, remedy, or enforce potential Terms of Use violations; (c) protect the rights, property, and safety of us, our users, or others; (d) detect and resolve any fraud or security concerns.

  • With third parties as part of a merger or acquisition. If Wildire FZ-LLC. gets involved in a merger, asset sale, financing, liquidation or bankruptcy, or acquisition of all or some portion of our business to another company, we may share your information with that company before and after the transaction closes.

Responding to legal requests and preventing harm:

We may access, preserve and share your information in response to a legal request (like a search warrant, court order or subpoena) if we have a good faith belief that the law requires us to do so. This may include responding to legal requests from jurisdictions outside of the United Arab Emirates where we have a good faith belief that the response is required by law in that jurisdiction, affects users in that jurisdiction, and is consistent with internationally recognized standards. We may also access, preserve and share information when we have a good faith belief it is necessary to: detect, prevent and address fraud and other illegal activity; to protect ourselves, you and others, including as part of investigations; and to prevent death or imminent bodily harm. Information we receive about you may be accessed, processed and retained for an extended period of time when it is the subject of a legal request or obligation, governmental investigation, or investigations concerning possible violations of our terms or policies, or otherwise to prevent harm.

Storage and Processing:

  • Your information collected through the Service may be stored and processed in any country in which Wildfire FZ-LLC, its Affiliates or Service Providers maintain facilities.

  • Wildfire FZ-LLC, its Group Company, or service providers may transfer information that we collect about you, including personal information across borders and from your country or jurisdiction to other countries or jurisdictions around the world. Please note that we may transfer information, including personal information, to a country and jurisdiction that does not have the same data protection laws as your jurisdiction.

  • By registering for and using the Service you consent to the transfer of information to any country in which Wildfire FZ-LLC, its Group Company or Service Providers maintain facilities and the use and disclosure of information about you as described in this Privacy Policy.

  • We use commercially reasonable safeguards to help keep the information collected through the Service secure and take reasonable steps (such as requesting a unique password) to verify your identity before granting you access to your account. However, Wildfire FZ-LLC cannot ensure the security of any information you transmit on the Service or guarantee that information on the Service may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed.

  • Please do your part to help us. You are responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your unique password and account information, and for controlling access to emails between you and Wildfire FZ-LLC, at all times. Your privacy settings may also be affected by changes the social media services you connect to Wyld make to their services. We are not responsible for the functionality, privacy, or security measures of any other organization.

Your account information and profile privacy settings:

  • Update your account at any time by logging in and changing your profile settings.

  • Unsubscribe from email communications from us by clicking on the "unsubscribe link" provided in such communications. As noted above, you may not opt out of Service-related communications (e.g., account verification, purchase and billing confirmations and reminders, changes/updates to features of the Service, technical and security notices).

How long we keep your Stories:

  • A submitted Story on Wyld remains on the Service as long as it is being Pushed. Once a Story is submitted, a 24 hour countdown begins that resets with every Push the Story receives from Users. When the countdown runs out, the Story expires (the Expired Stories) and is automatically removed from the Service.

  • Although Expired Stories and Stories deleted by you (Deleted Stories) are removed from the Service, Wildfire FZ-LLC, its Group Company, or its Service Providers may still retain information associated with the Expired Stories’ or Deleted Stories’ past activity. When a story expires or is deleted by you on the Service, its metadata (including but not limited to format, video duration, geotag, hashtags, User interactions, views, pushes, drops, date of publishing, date of expiration, and date of deletion) may be retained, but the photo/video and caption associated with the Story are permanently erased from the Service, and are no longer retained by Wildfire FZ-LLC, its Group Company, or its Service Providers.

  • Following termination of your account, any User Content as well as any information (including profile information) that makes you uniquely identifiable is permanently erased from the Service. However, Wildfire FZ-LLC, its Group Company, or its Service Providers may retain any information that is useful anonymously for a commercially reasonable time for backup, archival, and/or audit purposes.

How we protect your privacy:
We do our best to safeguard your personal privacy. Here’s the personal data we collect from you on the Service and here’s how we use it:

  • Password: You provide us with your password when you sign up. Your password is private and encrypted and used to protect your account by verifying your identity when logging in or when deleting your account on the Service.

  • Display Name: You provide your display name when you sign up. Your display name shows to other users on the Service. It helps you better describe your account and makes it easier for other users to uniquely identify it on the Service.

  • Email: You provide your email by signing up through email or by choosing to add it to your profile information. Your email address is used to verify your account during the signup process. It is also used by us to reach out to you by email. Your email is private and is not displayed to other users on the Service.

  • Display Picture: Providing a display picture is optional. Your display picture is displayed to other users on the Service to help them uniquely identify your account.

  • Your Stories: You provide a Story by submitting content (captured or uploaded) to display to other users on the Service. The content and its metadata are used to help the discoverability of your Story by other users on the Service. The content and metadata of your Story may be recorded and stored by us as long as the Story itself is not expired or deleted by you. When a Story expires or is deleted by you on the Service, the metadata (format, video duration, geotag, hashtags, User interactions, views, pushes, drops, date of publishing, date of expiration, date of deletion) is recorded and stored by us, but the photo/video and caption associated with the Story are permanently erased. We use this metadata to form aggregated data about the user base in order to better understand popular content and interests among the user base at large. This information helps us enhance your experience on the Service.

  • Interactions: Some interactions you make on the Service are recorded and stored by us, specifically actions you take in editing your account or in content creation and sharing. These interactions include: number of photos/videos submitted, number of executed pushes/drops, account signup date, account deletion date, and the date you last edited your account details. This information is used by us to form aggregated data about the user base in order to understand the overall behavior of users towards the Service, so that we can enhance the overall experience.

  • Sessions: Your sessions and their durations on the Service are recorded and stored by us. Your sessions indicate the number of times you visit the Service and how long you stay each time. This information is used by us to form aggregated data about the user base in order to understand the overall satisfaction of users towards the Service and its features, so that we can improve the experience.

  • Network: Your network is made up of the users you follow and the users following you. The number and type of users in your following/followers list is used by us to form aggregated data about the user base in order to help us understand the kind and scale of networks our users make on the Service. This information helps us enhance your experience in growing your network.

  • Device and Operating System: The device type and operating system type you are using the Service with is recorded and stored by us. This information is used to form aggregated data about the user base in order to understand and enhance the performance of the Service across different device types and types of operating systems.

Sharing your personal data:
Although the above personal data is individually recorded and stored by us during the time your account is active on the Service, we never use any of your personal data individually. Any data we use internally or choose to share with a third party is only in the form of aggregated data about the user base. Aggregated data about the user base at large allows us to discover, analyze, and share insights about usage, without disclosing the personal data of any individual user.

Deleting your personal data:
You can delete any personal data recorded or stored by us by terminating your account (deleting your account) on the Service. By terminating your account any personal data collected that makes you uniquely identifiable is permanently erased, leaving only the data that is useful to us anonymously.
